About Our School Services
FNQ Bus Lines Pty Ltd operates 17 school bus services from Hope Vale in the north to Cairns in the south, with over 800 school children travelling daily.
We are committed to a driver training program concentrating on safety, Code of Conduct and a high level of professionalism for all our drivers. All of our drivers must hold a valid Queensland Industry Drivers Authorisation, which requires ongoing criminal history checks and medical clearance.
New students wishing to travel must contact the FNQ Bus Lines office on (07) 4098 2380 prior to travelling to complete the appropriate paperwork and to apply to travel.

All students are required to wear fitted seat belts for the duration of travel — every trip, every day, without exception.
Our drivers and operations team undergo ongoing training focused on safety, student wellbeing, and the highest standards of conduct.
Getting on Board
Travel on our school transport services may be covered by the School Transport Assistance Scheme (STAS), which provides assistance to enable eligible students to attend education facilities. Based on your registered home address and the school your child is enrolled in, you may qualify.

Who Can Travel
If your application is unsuccessful, you will be advised by FNQ Bus Lines and Queensland Transport.
Eligible students will be issued with an FNQ Bus Lines Bus Pass following confirmation from Queensland Transport.
Non-Eligible Students
Students not eligible under the STAS scheme are required to pay a fare every time they travel. Fares vary depending on the student’s age and requested route — please contact our office for current pricing.
One-off fares must be purchased on the vehicle at the time of travel. Regular fare payers must pre-purchase a Multi-ride Pass, available in 10 or 20 ride options at a discounted rate.
Rules of Travel
All students travelling on FNQ Bus Lines school services must abide by the Code of Conduct as set by Queensland Transport, as well as our own behavioural guidelines.
Arrive 5 Minutes Early
Students must be at their designated pick-up point at least 5 minutes before departure. The bus cannot be delayed for late students.
Wear Your Seat Belt
All students must wear fitted seat belts for the entire journey. Persistent non-compliance will result in refusal of travel under Australian Law.
No Food or Drink
No food or drink is to be consumed on any FNQ Bus Lines school bus service.
Respect the Vehicle
Any student found wilfully vandalising the bus will be refused travel and parents will be responsible for the full cost of repairs.
No Large Items
Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and other large items are not permitted on school bus services. School bags may be stored in luggage bins as directed by the driver.
Follow Driver Instructions
Students may be allocated a seat by the driver. All reasonable requests from the driver must be followed at all times.
